Trivia Question 2 : What was the name of the dog to earn the first Field Champion title?

FC Skipper Bob - Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Owned by - Harry Conklin. Skipper Bob earned his FC in 1935. In 1936 Blind Of Arden was the second dog to earn the Field Champion title. Also in 1936, a tradition of the Skipper Bob Perpetual Trophy being awarded to the WINNER of The National Chesapeake Bay Retriever Specialty – Open Stake for that year. The winner of the Open gets to keep the trophy for one year until they award it to the following years winner. The Skipper Bob Trophy is the longest standing Perpetual Trophy in the Field Trial game today …

F: made several passes in the area to retrieve her bird.

MR: jumped into the cover near the 2nd tree, went over to the 1st tree and got the bird.

LR: ran a path at the holding blind, went just to the right but quickly turn left to snatch up her bird clean.

Pick Up 46. FC Magic Tricks Autumn Creek Tazz "Tazz", LM, Paul Sletten

*** There is no wind right now and the air is still.

F: Pinned it!

MR: jumped into the cover and came out with the bird!

LR: angle thru the pond pushing left, exited angling left and kept going wide and left. made an attempt to handle but had to Pick the dog up.

F: Smacked it!

MR: straight to the area, pushed her nose in the cover and she had her bird!

LR: ran a path at the holding blind, veered right and made a loop deep then turn over to the left into the fall area to make her retrieve.

F: (long low flyer) huge hunt before retrieving the bird.

MR: (splash bird) came into the mark from the 2nd tree turned left and got the bird.

LR: Put her nose on it! Great Recovery!!

F: made a couple loops in the area before retrieving the bird.

MR: (landed with a splash in front of the cover) jumped in the cover near the 1st tree then jumped in the cover near the 2nd tree before finding his bird.

LR: ran the right bank of the pond, holding a line at the holding blind, got wide deep and right est a hunt and worked over to the left to retrieve the bird.

41. FC Low Tides Pounder "LB", LM, Al Arthur

F: Pinned it!

MR: (bird splashed in front of the cover) Hammered it!

LR: thru the pond, hung up a bit short on drag back, turned and went right of the holding blind, est a hunt deep and right before crossing over to the left and getting his bird.

F: Hammered it!

MR: scooped it up on the fly!

LR: thru the pond ran into the mark under the arc got deep and left of the area then turned to the right and got the bird for a job well done.

F: made a pass to the right then left and grabbed her LIVE bird.

MR: straight to the bird!

LR: took a path right of the holding blind, went wide deep and right of the holding blind hunting her way over to the left to retrieve her.

F: Drilled it!

MR: Smacked it!

LR: took off on a good path came in under the arc, went to the right of the holding blind, then turn left to retrieve the bird for a job well done.

F: (landed behind the mound) ran over top of the mound and stomped on the bird!

MR: dove into the cover near the 2nd tree, and back out with bird in mouth!

LR: ran right shore, straight to the area and smacked it! Amazing!

36. FC Trumarc's Gratuity "Tippy", LF, Danny Farmer

F: made a loop to the right then retrieved the bird.

MR: went into the cover near the 2nd tree, then over to the bird.

LR: thru the pond running wide left of the fall, adjusted mid way to the mark, angling to the right of the holding blind, then went wide right of the holding blind, worked her way inward to retrieve the bird.

33. FC-AFC Patton's Natural Born World Shaker "Luke", LM, Kathy Folsom

F: (landed behind the guns) made one quick loop and got it!

MR: (landed with a splash) took a nice path at the area jumped into the cover, and came inward to the waters edge to make the retrieve

LR: ran straight to the holding blind, turned to the right, est a hunt right and deep of the holding blind, then crossed over to the left and hunted out the bird. Good Job!

32. FC Racin' In The Rough "Nitro", LM, Ed Forry

F: made a few circles in the area before retrieving the bird.

MR: Hammered  it!

LR: came into the mark just under the arc, made a turn right circled the holding blind to the left and got the bird clean. Great Job!

F: scooped it up on the fly

MR: chalk-lined to the bird!

LR: thru the pond, traveling a path under the arc, reached the holding blind made a loop to the right then turned left and got the bird for a job well done.

Conditions Report

Well we have had a wind change that is in the Retriever Team's favor! It is now blowing steady between 3 -7 mph out of the Northeast. Giving this test a bit of a cross wind. The sun is radiant, at a position high in the sky it is making the visibility perfect. Whom ever is running the test now should thank their lucky stars for such prime conditions.

F:made one quick loop near the gunners and then retrieved his bird.

MR: (bird landed with a splash) Drilled it!

LR: Hammered it!

F: Stepped on it!

MR: came into the mark around the 2nd tree and to the bird.

LR: ran the right shore on a picture perfect line to scoop up the bird. Fabulous!

F: Nailed it!

MR: Excellent mark!

LR: ran the right side of the pond angled to the right of the holding blind, got deep and wide right, then crossed over to the left to retrieve.

F: Scooped it up on the fly.

MR: jumped into the pond straight to the area circled the bush then retrieved the bird.

LR:ran straight to the blind, made one loop to the right and then over to retrieve the bird.

F: Stepped on it!

MR: Pinned it!

LR: ran along the right edge of the pond, ran to the fall area, turned toward the holding blind stayed on the correct side of the mark made a couple passes to retrieve the bird! Amazing!

F: drove a bit deep made a loop then got the bird!

MR: Hammered it!

LR:swam thru the pond, straight to the fall area, over top of the bird, turned to the right of the holding blind, est a hunt before crossing over to the left to retrieve the bird.

F: Put his nose on it!

MR: straight to the bird!

LR: cut the right side of the pond, running a path to the area, ran over top of the bird made a pass to the right and a bit deep of the holding blind then turning left to retrieve the bird.

F: Pinned it!

MR: (landed in front of the tree) - came into the mark from the 2nd tree and snatched it up clean!

LR: swam thru the pond exiting at a wide left angle, stayed wide and left of the area got deep then made a curve to the right toward the holding blind, est a hunt deep and right, before crossing over to the left and retrieving the bird.

F: (long flyer) straight to the area and to the bird.

MR: Drilled it!

LR: ran the right side of the pond taking a nice line to the area came up a bit short but worked it out quick to put series 4 in the books.

MR: went to the 2nd tree and then to the bird.

LR: ran the right edge of the pond, turned left 1/2 way out hunting short came back in toward MR and was handled to the bird

19. FC-AFC Bayou Teche Eye On The Ball "Slider", LM, Lauren Hays

F: made a turn left then right and got the bird.

MR: (throw hit the side of the tree) straight to the bird!

LR: swam thru the middle of the pond to the area took a turn to the right of the holding blind, then a bit deep before crossing over to the left and retrieving the bird.

"Slider" is sliding out of Lauren's arms …

18. Lock Five's Got Her Blue Genes On "Baby", LF, Ray Voigt

F: two quick turns to grab it!

MR: (the throw hit the tree) made two circles around the tree and retrieved the bird. Good Mark!

LR: ran right edge of the pond, straight at the holding blind, made turn right then a quick turn left and got the bird! Fantastic!

Handle 17. FC Baypoint's Shades Of Bleu "Magic", LM, Jim Gonia

F: made a few passes in the area to retrieve the bird.

MR: seam into the mark under the arc, made two passes in the area to come up with the bird quick.

LR:swam thru the middle of the pond, exited the pond angling wide left drove deep and was handled inward to retrieve the bird.

Handle 16. FC Watermark's Power Punch "Buddy", LM, Eric Fangsrud

F: drove a bit deep then turned inward to snatch it up!

MR:traveled the right edge of the pond, took a wide right and looked to be headed deep then the dog put on the brakes and hunted inward to retrieve the bird.

LR: took same line as previous mark retrieved, got deep and right of the holding blind then turned and began to come toward the MR and the dog was handled to the bird.

14. Making The Grade "Mako", LM, Rob Erhardt

F: straight to the area and scooped it up

MR: (throw landed in the pond) dog went to the 2nd tree, looped back into the cover and then to the bird.

LR:ran the right shore, headed right of the holding blind, went deep to est a hunt before crossing over to the left and getting the bird.

No-Bird 13. AFC Fireweed's Poison Ivy "Ivy", CF, Jerry Patopea

No-Bird on the MR - new thrower launched bird past where it was originally landing

F: (bird landed deep) made a few loops in the area before grabbing the bird.

MR: gun change thrower is putting the bird farther than 1st set of throwers, landing past the trees rather than the base of the tree. The dog went to the base of the tree, went back and fourth a couple times before retrieving the bird.

LR: ran the right hand bank, up toward the holding blind, turned wide right and deep, est a sizable hunt before retrieving the bird.

Gun Change

VROOOOOOOOM....... and they are off for the quick change of gunners and throwers!
